First Book Review, October 28th:
"The Tea Lover's Treasury" by James Norwood Pratt
Some consider this the Tea Bible that was written by an American. There are greater tea books out there. Most of those
are written by Chinese or Japanese tea experts. The book is good. Mr. Pratt tries to make the world of tea interesting. The
book is laid out in six parts. Tea Tales, Tea Things, Tea Types, Tea Times, Tea trade, and Tea Producing. In tea tales he
writes about the importance of tea in Britian, China, and Japan. Tea things tells you about diiferent tea brewing and tea
drinking devices. In tea types he writes about the different tea producing countries and the difference in taste between them.
Tea times is a hodge podge of information. Famous people who drink tea. Traditions such as the tea ceremony are written
about as well. Tea trade tells you about the old English tea trading companies. China and Indias importance to the world tea
market is discussed as well. Tea producing goes into technical detail of why tea taste like it does. Tea is produced by many
different oxidation methods.
If you like pictures this book is not for you. There are some interesting illustrations that
have to do with tea.
If you are a tea lover I would reccomend the book. No matter what level of tea connoisseur
you are you will learn something.
I would reccomend this book. Thumbs up.
